House siding

Siding that holds up and looks the part

Your siding takes more abuse than any other part of your home's exterior — sun, wind, ice, and everything New England throws at it year after year. Bay State Design & Construction installs vinyl, fiber cement, cedar shake, composite, and real-wood siding that protects your home and improves how it looks from the street.

Our Approach

There's more to a house siding job than what you can see

Siding is one of those projects that looks simple until you're standing on a ladder in October realizing the old material wasn't removed properly, the house wrap wasn't right, and now you have a moisture problem behind brand new siding. We've seen it. Installation quality matters as much as the product itself — maybe more. Every siding project we take on starts with a proper assessment of what's underneath, the right product recommendation for your home's style and exposure, and an installation that's done to last. Not just to look good on day one.

What's Possible
Vinyl siding
Fiber cement siding
Wood clapboard
Cedar shingle siding
Siding replacement
Full house residing
Partial siding repair
Trim and fascia

Siding is often part of a larger exterior project — a full home renovation, an addition, or a complete exterior overhaul. If your project is growing, our FlexUnit™ service might be the smarter path.

REASONS TO RESIDE YOUR HOME

When is it time for new siding?

  • Siding is fading, cracking, warping, or pulling away from the house
  • You're seeing rot, moisture damage, or mold behind or on the surface
  • Paint is peeling repeatedly and no amount of repainting is fixing it
  • Your home's energy performance has dropped and the siding is part of why
  • You're doing an addition and want the exterior to look cohesive
  • You want to change the look of your home without a full renovation
  • You're getting ready to sell and curb appeal is the first impression

Trusted Brands & Materials

One point of contact, start to finish

No chasing down architects, contractors, or permit offices. You have one team and one person to call, from first sketch to final walkthrough.

We design around your budget

Many firms design the dream, then hand you a bill that doesn't match it. We start with your number and build the plan around it — no sticker shock.

Your vision survives the build

A lot gets lost when the design firm hands off to the contractor. We can draw the plans and build to them. AKA: what you approved is what gets built.

Your timeline is ours to protect

When design and construction live under one roof, no one else's schedule can slow yours down. We control the process so you're not waiting on a separate third party to move forward.

You focus on the fun part

Finishes, fixtures, how it all comes together — that's your job. Permits, inspections, scheduling, and the heavy lift? That's ours.

We don't take that lightly. It means our clients trust us enough to send their family and neighbors our way. And we intend to keep earning that.

Frequently Asked Questions

House siding FAQs

It depends on the material. Vinyl siding typically lasts 20 to 40 years with minimal maintenance. Fiber cement like James Hardie can last 50 years or more when properly painted and maintained. Wood siding varies based on maintenance but can last generations when cared for. We'll give you an honest read on what to expect from each option.

In most cases yes. Installing over existing siding can trap moisture and hide problems that will surface later. We assess what's underneath before making a recommendation — if the existing material and substrate are in good shape, we'll tell you. If they're not, we'll tell you that too.

In most municipalities, a full residing project does not require a permit. However, if the project involves structural repairs or changes to the exterior envelope, permitting may apply. We assess what's needed upfront.

Vinyl is the lowest maintenance option — it doesn't need to be painted and cleans up with a hose. Fiber cement is a step up in durability and needs periodic repainting but far less frequently than wood. We'll help you weigh the tradeoffs based on your priorities.

For partial repairs or additions, we do our best to match the existing profile, color, and texture. An exact match isn't always possible depending on the age and product — we'll tell you honestly what to expect before the work begins.

Most full residing projects run one to two weeks depending on the size of the home and the material being installed. We'll give you a realistic timeline during the estimate.

Every project comes with a 1-year workmanship warranty. If something isn't right with our work, we come back and make it right.
