Our Approach

We build and install decks differently (and New England notices)

A deck is one of the first things people notice about your home from the outside — and one of the most used spaces when you're inside it. We've built everything from simple pressure treated decks to multi-level IPE and composite builds with custom bars, screen porches, and pool surrounds. Whatever you have in mind, we design it around how you actually want to use the space, draw the plans in-house, pull the permits, and build it ourselves. New England weather is hard on outdoor structures. We build for it, all year long.

What's Possible
Pressure treated decks
Cedar decks
IPE decks
Composite and PVC decks
Screen porches
Farmers porches
Pool decks
Custom bars
Railing systems

Sometimes a deck is the starting point for a larger outdoor living vision — a screened porch, a pool surround, or a full backyard build-out. If your project is growing, our FlexUnit™ service might be the smarter path.

REASONS TO BUILD A DECK

When is it time to build or replace your deck?

  • Your backyard gets no use because there's nowhere comfortable to be
  • Your existing deck is aging, rotting, or starting to feel unsafe
  • You've got a pool with no real surround to speak of
  • You want an outdoor space that actually works for entertaining
  • You're adding a porch or screen room and want it done right
  • You're getting ready to sell and outdoor living space moves buyers

Why homeowners choose BSDC

One point of contact, start to finish

No chasing down architects, contractors, or permit offices. You have one team and one person to call, from first sketch to final walkthrough.

We design around your budget

Many firms design the dream, then hand you a bill that doesn't match it. We start with your number and build the plan around it — no sticker shock.

Your vision survives the build

A lot gets lost when the design firm hands off to the contractor. We can draw the plans and build to them. AKA: what you approved is what gets built.

Your timeline is ours to protect

When design and construction live under one roof, no one else's schedule can slow yours down. We control the process so you're not waiting on a separate third party to move forward.

You focus on the fun part

Finishes, fixtures, how it all comes together — that's your job. Permits, inspections, scheduling, and the heavy lift? That's ours.

75% of our work comes from referrals

We don't take that lightly. It means our clients trust us enough to send their family and neighbors our way. And we intend to keep earning that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Deck installation FAQs

Most deck projects run 3 to 5 weeks from the start of construction. Larger builds with screen porches, custom bars, or pool surrounds may take longer. We walk through timing during the estimate so you know what to plan for.

In most Massachusetts municipalities, yes. Decks attached to your home and those above a certain height require a permit. We handle the entire permitting process in-house so you don't have to figure out what's required.

It depends on your priorities. Composite and PVC materials like Trex, Timbertech, and Azek require the least maintenance and hold up well through freeze-thaw cycles. Cedar and IPE are excellent natural wood options if you prefer the real thing and are willing to maintain them. We'll help you weigh the options during your consultation.

Wood, PVC, and metal. The right choice depends on your decking material, your home's exterior, and your budget. We'll walk you through options that complement the overall design.

Yes. Custom bars are something we do regularly on deck builds. If you want a full outdoor kitchen, that falls into our outdoor kitchen work — worth a conversation during the estimate.

Yes. If your current deck is aging or structurally compromised, we'll assess it honestly and tell you whether a repair makes sense or whether a full replacement is the smarter investment.

Every project comes with a 1-year workmanship warranty. If something isn't right with our work, we come back and make it right.
