Most homeowners don't realize how much gets lost in the handoff between a design firm and a contractor. The plans come back over budget. The contractor interprets something differently than the designer intended. The timeline slips because no one owns the whole process. We built BSDC around a simple idea — that design and construction should never be separated. We take your initial idea, develop it into a full set of drawings, model it in 3D so you can see exactly what you're getting, handle engineering and plot plans, pull every permit, and build it ourselves. From the first conversation to the final walkthrough, you're working with one team.

Once you accept the estimate, we send over a contract and schedule a design session to lock in materials, finishes, and layout.

Design & build FAQs

A design and build contractor handles both sides of a project — the design and the construction — under one roof. That means one contract, one point of contact, and one team responsible for the outcome from start to finish.

When you hire separately, you're the one managing the relationship between two firms. If something gets lost in translation between the design and the build, that's your problem to sort out. With a design and build firm, that's our problem — and our job to prevent it from happening in the first place.

We start with your idea and your budget. From there we develop drawings, produce 3D renderings so you can visualize the space before anything gets built, handle any engineering requirements, and prepare full permit documentation. You sign off before a single nail goes in.

Yes. Permit documents, engineering, and plot plans are all handled in-house. We know what each municipality requires and manage the process so you don't have to.

It depends on the plans. We're happy to review what you have and tell you honestly whether we can build from them or whether they need to be redeveloped. Either way, we make sure the construction documents are right before we break ground.

Kitchen and bathroom remodels, home additions, floor plan reconfigurations, basements, ADUs, and larger custom builds. If it involves design and construction in Central or Greater Massachusetts, we're worth a call.

Every project comes with a 1-year workmanship warranty. If something isn't right with our work, we come back and make it right.
